Author Guidelines

AUTHOR IDENTIFICATION: Because JCSDCB uses a double-blind, peer-review process it is inappropriate for authors to identify themselves or provide clues to their identity in their manuscripts. This means you must also INSPECT your document and remove any personally identifying information from your manuscript. In MS Word, go to FILE>INFO>CHECK FOR ISSUES>INSPECT DOCUMENT. The program will identify all personal information and allow you to remove them.

REFERENCES: Reference citations in the text of the manuscript should be in parentheses, by author's last name and year of publication, for example (Day 1977). If the author's name appears in a sentence the name should be followed by the year, for example, "...Day (1977)..." If a page is cited it should be
noted as follows: (Day 1977, p.26). If a citation has only two authors always use both authors' names (Day and Hunt 1978). If a citation has three or more authors, include all the authors' names the first time the citation appears. After the first appearance use only the name of the first author, for example, an article by Hunt, Day and Someone would be (Hunt, et al. 1978). In a series of citations in the same location, separate the citations with a semicolon, for example, (Day 1977; Hunt et al. 1978). Works published in the same year by the same author(s) should be differentiated by letters after the date, for
example, Day 1977a; 1977b).

All references cited in the article and ONLY references cited in the article are to be fully listed in alphabetical order at the end of the article, with the author surnames followed by initials. Standard reference punctuation is expected and recent JCSDCB articles may be used for examples. Last names are required and other names should use initials. For example, use H.K. Hunt or R.L. Day, not H. Keith Hunt or Ralph L. Day.

In general, we follow the latest APA citation guidelines, available at https://apastyle.apa.org/blog (click on the STYLE AND GRAMMAR GUIDELINES and follow the Citations and References links.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS: Acknowledgements may be used and put in a footnote on the first page.

SUBMISSION OF FINAL COPY: After a manuscript is accepted and all suggested revisions made, the final manuscript must be submitted through the jcsdcb.com website or as an e-mail attachment in Microsoft Word format. Specific formatting instructions will be provided to the contact author for each accepted article. It is important that these instructions be carefully followed.
